Colleen + Bradley

Gorgeous wedding! Colleen and Brad were married on September 1, 2007. The day was perfect, beautiful sunshine, not too warm, and it cooled down enough in the evening that I even felt like I could use a sweater! Yikes, it seems like September 1st is too early for that. The reception was held at the Sunriver Resort in The Great Hall.

What made this wedding different:
Colleen and Brad are both living in San Francisco so it was truly a destination wedding for them and for their friends. They had a complete itinerary for their friends and family days ahead of the wedding. By the day of the ceremony it was like one big, happy, family of 200. The event was perfectly coordinated by Katie and Linda of Posh Event Coordination.

Amanda + Ari - goin’ Western!

In trying to come up with unique details from our weddings, there is always something. But I have to tell you that Amanda and Ari take the cake for unique!

How was this wedding unique:
I don’t even know where to begin. Amanda’s dad built Western Town for the happy couple to exchange their vows. When I say built, I mean - he BUILT a town! He built a little old fashioned ghost town on their property in Prineville. The attention to detail was unreal. He built the town, the chairs the guests sat in, hand carved the stones the couple walked on to the alter, built the alter… He fabricated this amazing little town from nothing - and all in ONE year! Keep in mind that central Oregon winters are not ideal for construction projects, so you can’t even count it as one solid year. The whole family helped with this project and they did such a great job! I don’t usually post pictures of chairs, but I want you to see the detail and time and love that went into each and every chair, and stone. Look at the ground in these pictures! He hand carved those suckers!

As if that weren’t enough, Ari’s brother sang the sweetest song during the ceremony. Thank God for sunglasses because I am getting a little tired of being the photographer dorking out in the corner crying at other people’s weddings. OH…speaking of crying, Amanda’s dad also surprised her with a horse drawn carriage to take her to the ceremony. Killed me. AND…if that weren’t enough - the kids were catching lizards during the reception.

Unique indeed. Thank you Amanda and Ari for the wonderful time, thank you to your families for making us feel so welcome, and thank you to your aunt and uncle for AMAZING food! (Did I mention they catered the event - unbelievable food!)

On with pictures - the slideshow plays at the top, but you can scroll down and just look at pics if you don’t want to watch a whole show:

THEN and NOW

I’d like to say I came up with this idea on my own, but I have to admit - it wasn’t me. There have actually been quite a few of you who said, when I posted that it was our 10th anniversary, “Oh, post a then and now picture!” So I am. Sorry it’s a day late - but we went out to dinner with our three kids in celebration of our 10th anniversary. I know, most people consider Hawaii or Europe for their 10th. We were going to do that too, but we had three kids instead! HAHA! Maybe for the 15th we’ll go some place tropical. For now, Drew is too young to leave for that long. The girl’s would be fine, and Drew probably would too -but tropical vacations can wait. I’m confident Hawaii will still be there in 5 years. On with the pictures…

THEN: (I had to take a photo of a photo because this was taken in the days of film - and I don’t have my scanner hooked up - can you tell it was taken in the 90’s - check out the golden rim on the image!) I could make fun of this picture of us on so many levels. But I won’t. It was a different time. I’m sure that hair was cool in 1997, right?

NOW: (the disclaimer here is that Steve and I took this silly picture of ourselves on his lunch break. Super quick photo. We took it. It looks goofy. And, yes, I did do some MINOR retouching on myself. Steve is as is. Haha! :))

Baby Eli

I love baby drool almost as much as I love babies! Okay, well… I don’t love baby drool ON me, but I do love to take pictures of it. Sadly, many moms ask me to photoshop it out, which I happily do. But - how can you NOT love this baby and his little drooling self. Eli is a 6 month old with more personality than most 7 year olds. He kept me laughing the whole time. He’s one of our Leaps and Bound babies, which means this is session 2 of a series of three throughout a years time. We did the same thing with his brother, Dru and it’s so fun to watch them change each time!

When all of his sessions are done, I’ll have to post before and afters of Eli and his big brother Dru. No slideshow to share this time, just a few photos.

Enjoy!

two BIG things

It’s September! I love September! Not only is it my birthday month, but it’s our wedding anniversary month, it’s the sort of beginning of Fall and I love Fall. Crisp nights. Starry skies. Pumpkin Patches are just around the corner. Fall festivals. School clothes shopping. Who doesn’t love all of that!? Okay, so instead of being the one that gets the new clothes, I am now the one buying them for our girls - but I still love it! Why am I telling you all of this?

Because when I love Fall - you’ll love Fall. Happy me = generous me. :) We’re doing two fun, big specials right now. Both are for wedding coverage only, so keep that in mind. I think I’ll post them as two posts, so it’s not too overwhelming. Here is the first:

1. HARVEST SPECIAL
While the farmers are out working hard to harvest their fields - we’ll celebrate the fact that we’re not. Our Harvest Special is pretty simple - for those brides who book their wedding between September 1st and November 1st, we will include the high resolution DVD with your coverage. (Insert best commercial voice) “That’s a $700 value!”

That may have been a bit confusing. Basically - if you book your 2008 wedding between now and November 1st, you get the high res DVD. What does that mean for you? It means you have your own digital archive of your images. It means that you can print your own photographs (with some suggestions from us as to which lab to use). It means photo freedom for you. It means saving $700. Of our 2007 brides, 95% of them chose to purchase the DVD after their wedding. It’s a cool thing to have. The special will end if you book after November 1st, so no asking for it on November 2nd.

2008 has started booking up and we are already super excited about our couples! We’d love for you to be one of them. :)
