1- nailing jello to a tree (thank you Hallmark for letting me steal that line from one of your cards)
2- going 24 hours with a working email account
3- getting my kids to GO TO BED without a fight
4- potty training Drew
5- keeping Truman (our dog) out of the kitchen during dinner time
6- getting through Ikea in less than an hour
7- spending less than $300 per Costco trip
8- planning Zoey’s 8th birthday party without somehow including Star Wars in the theme
9- staying caught up with Fusion (although blogs like this don’t help)
10- getting Livy to even make eye contact with the camera for a mere snapshot
Remember way back in early June when the weather was a tiny bit sketchy? It was one of those weddings that could have been incredibly windy, a little chilly, and most certainly, frustrating for the couple if things had gone bad. Leave it to Oregon to give us a surprisingly beautiful day in the middle of a stormy weekend! The weather was perfect - not steamy hot, like it can be, and not too cool.
Lesley and Brian live in Portland and planned their wedding in central Oregon based on their love of the outdoors. The whole wedding had an outdoor theme and feel to it - from the baby pine trees they gave away for their guests to plant, to their cake that looked like wood grain. This was a very child friendly wedding, which is always fun. Lesley has been a nanny up in the Portland area and she clearly has a gift with children. The whole night, they were following her around. It was adorable. Brian is an OSU alum, so he and Steve hit it off right away. Go Beavs!
It was a fairy tale wedding, complete with the horse and carriage.

A sad little guy - I think he had to wait for cake time. The worst news ever for a two year old.

The first dance -

These two were so goofy together!

While I am attached to my computer during most hours of the day, I do manage to see my family every now and again. Drew has started making this little face when he’s being naughty, and he knows he’s doing something he shouldn’t. It’s classic. I managed to capture a quick shot of it this evening. We call it his naughty face and he’s learned to do it on command when his sisters ask him. This could mean trouble… yikes.
Drew being naughty, with dinner all over his face, to boot.

Just wanted to keep this thing alive. I live at my desk right now. I’m glued to it. All I see is my computer screen. My legs are locked in the seated position. My knees hurt. My eyes are squinty. Poor, poor, pitiful me. Okay, so here is the scoop: I am madly trying to get a LOT of things updated - our website is priority number one. The images on that poor thing are from 2005 and earlier, with a handful from 2006. It’s 2008! That’s not okay! Not only is our website in serious need of an overhaul, but our email is still sketchy through our current webhost. So, lots going on. A new website. A new viewing gallery. A new web host. All of this is so that we can serve all of you better. Imagine, actually being able to send AND receive email! *gasp*
Please be patient. I’m toiling away to keep things fresh. Sadly, something has to take the back seat right now, and it has to be or blog. First are our amazing clients, then the website reconstruction, and finally, our blog. Let’s all hope and pray I can get this project done within a week or two. It’s killin’ me!
More soon!
Just wanted to let everyone know we are going to be out of town for a little family getaway from July 6th through July 13th. If you need anything - please contact us via phone, as we will be checking voicemail on a regular basis. We will be away from our computer and internet access, so know that if you email we won’t be able to respond until we return.
We are also in the middle of ironing out some email issues we’ve been having, so if you have emailed in the past week and have not heard back from us, please call us at 541.325.1070 or email emilycanfield@msn.com until we can pin down where the kink in the cyberspace hose is.
We hope you have a wonderful week!
Again, our number is 541.325.1070.
Thanks!
Steve and Emily
I’m still playing catch up with my blog posts and I have to admit I’m cheating a bit on this one. There are a few sessions that I wanted to blog before this one - but how can I resist sharing pics of Leila? What is so great about this particular shoot is the insane amount of artistic freedom Jeni and Jon were willing to give me with their precious little Leila. Keep in mind, we have three of our own, so I would never put another baby in harms way - but artistically speaking, this session was a dream come true. What was even better is that Jeni got as excited as I did about things like, a rusty truck, an abandoned railroad station, and pink converse. Thanks Jeni and Jon! We had a wonderful time.
Oh - and if you need an AMAZING hair stylist - call Jeni - she’s with Salon Estilo in Bend. She’s been my go-to girl for at least the last four years.
Jeni and Jon got married back in 2006 and now have an adorable one year old. There is nothing better than being able to be a photographer for a wedding and then, again, years later capturing their life as a family. It’s one of the many perks of this job and we’re always so grateful when we’re asked back, again and again, within the same family. On with the pictures.
First I’ll share one from their wedding day about two years ago.

and then there were three!

We found this truly awful, rusty, dirty, beat up old truck - but at the same time - it was a dream come true for me!
Gotta love beat up old trucks and babies.

This has to be my favorite picture from the session, and maybe of 2008.

I love her chubby little arm…

The cutest shoes, ever!

Jeni had Leila in this fantastic rocker chic outfit - but Leila worked throughout the last part of the session at getting that darn head band off. I couldn’t resist doing a little collage of her ultimate win over the battle of the headband.
