Meet Courtney, our female senior ambassador for the Class of 2009! Courtney is fantastic - she’s funny, photogenic, and has big, wonderful dreams for her future. When we last talked, she was hoping to go to school to learn how to be a helicopter pilot. That’s not one you hear everyday. What I love so much about working with high school seniors is their energy, their wonderful dreams for their future, their fresh faces, and the excitement they have for life, and that they have the world before them to do with whatever they choose…ahhh.. those were the days!
Courtney had to get her braces put back on just weeks before her session with us - true with every senior I’ve ever shot with braces - she hates the one where her braces are showing. Those ones are actually my favorites! You’re beautiful, Courtney! Thank you for being our ambassador and for a very fun afternoon!
and, of course….

Wow. Sorry doesn’t begin to cover it. I don’t even know what to say. A slow blog is always a good sign - it just means we’ve been so busy, we haven’t had time to share. Sad, but true. A quick update on all that’s been going on in the last… *gasp* six weeks.
On the personal side, Zoey finished first grade! The end of a school year brings lots of fun for kids and lots of time at the school for moms - so, there has been a lot of fun parental involvement with her at school. Field Day, assemblies, all those end of the year activities that elementary schools bring. And Livy - well, she graduated from preschool and is moving on to the big, bad world of public school in the Fall. I think public schools are great - I didn’t mean the ‘bad’ part literally. I’ll just miss that little cutie when she’s gone. As for Drew - well, he’s down to one nap and lost his babysitter this Spring. So - you can imagine what that’s done for my Fusion time. Yikes.
On the business side - it’s been busy, and busy is good! We’ve had a lot of engagement sessions, high school seniors are starting to trickle in, and wedding season is upon us. The sun is out, and that means families want pictures, and we love to take them! Annnnndddd… we’re working on some other great things with the business. It’s top secret for now, but we’ll share…soon.
I’ve got LOTS to share, and I’m planning on doing just that in the days to come. So, without further ado - allow me to close this post and get started on with images which, I know, is what you’re after.
And, as a side note - Facebook is entirely too fantastic and distracting for me! If you’d like to play - come and be my friend. HAHAHA! That so sounds like a note you’d write in second grade. Anyway - it’s great fun - and not nearly as creepy as myspace (sorry myspace fans) Class of 2009 - you can watch for specials on my facebook site - so sign up!
I was dropping Zoey off at school this morning and the fields next to her school were covered in ice, as well as the trees in the park across the street. Ice? In May? I am so ready for sunshine. It did turn out to be a beautiful day today! I’ll take what I can get.
That building in the background is Zoey’s adorable little school. Love that place! I love it even more when Zoey’s not getting herself in trouble while she’s there.
AMAZING wedding! The sweetest couple, ever! I have to say that when I saw Casey and Laura’s phone number on caller ID the day after their wedding, I did panic a touch. Why on earth would the bride and groom be calling us the day after their wedding. The day that they should either be ON their honeymoon or packing for it. Either way, they shouldn’t be calling - unless…there was something wrong!? But no- they called to say “thank you!” On their way out of town, to catch their flight, they called to say…”thank you”… What? Just a tiny example of how great and thoughtful this couple is. They were truly a pleasure to work with - as well as all of the friends and family! It was a fantastic time had by all.
And all I want to say to Casey and Laura is, “No, Thank YOU!” It’s weddings like yours that keep us coming back for more! It was our pleasure! We are truly grateful to you guys, and to all of our amazing brides and grooms who put their faith and trust in us to capture their once in a lifetime wedding day.
So, here it is. The best reception venue on the planet, luscious flowers, the greatest couple, a gorgeous bride, a studly groom, a bazillion groomsmen and bridesmaids, and two amazing families - all mixed together - not a bad combo.
I had this little folder of Eli pictures all ready to post after the last one - and then got so caught up in finishing this last wedding we did that I completely forgot! So, allow me to share a bit more of baby Eli before I get to posting my favorite wedding of 2008!
For the record, I did not enhance those blue eyes, nor did I ask him to grab a perfectly blue ball that matches his perfectly blue eyes.
He’s working SO hard on walking - I bet by the time this post is finished he’ll be well on his way!
I can’t help myself - I have a bunch of this little guy to post. I’ll start with a couple before and afters then post just some pics from his one year session. Eli is one of our Leaps and Bounds baby’s - which simply means we do a photo shoot 3 times over the span of a year and in the end create a fantabulous album of the three sessions when we’re done. I’m sad to say this was Eli’s third session and he’s now one! His big brother, Dru, was also a proud Leaps and Boundser - but he’s creepin’ up on FOUR! Yikes.
Now for a couple before and afters:
Teeeeeeny tiny baby Eli perched on a chair - thanks for being a sport about this Heidi!
and BIG boy Eli trying to climb out of the same chair - one year later. Crazy how much babies change in the first year…
And this next set isn’t so much a before and after as it is just funny. I love the facial expressions this little guy has.
Here he is at 6 months in one of my favorite pictures of all time -
And at the tender age of one - making another great face!
These tiny babies are making me miss when we had tiny babies…then I think of the sleepless nights and I come back to my senses. Meet Zach. A sweet little guy who is the newest member of a family we’ve been photographing since their oldest daughter was but a wee babe. More importantly they are great friends!
We just shot a wedding on Saturday, our first big wedding for 2008, and it so energized me! I am sure I’ve mentioned this in post after post - but I LOVE this job. I love the people we meet, the fantastic couples we get to shoot and, more often than not, become friends with. It’s such an amazing gift to have a job that you truly love and have a passion for. I’m just really thankful for that. We will definitely post some images from Saturdays wedding - as it was a BLAST. We also have a couple infant sessions to share and an engagement session. So - I’ll get working on all of that soon. For now - I’m busy cleaning off my desk, dusting off my keyboard, and trying to find my way to my calendar after being gone for over a week.
Happy Easter to everyone! Here’s hoping your egg dying experience doesn’t end up like this!
We’ll be away off and on for about a week, so don’t look for any new blog entries here for a bit. We’re off to Portland for some work and some play. We’ll post some images from the work part the first part of April. Stay tuned. If you need to reach us between now and April 1st, your best bet will be via phone. While we will check in on our email, for the most part, the plan is to be away from any computers. Reach us here: 541.325.1070
Wishing you all a very happy Easter and a FUN filled Spring Break!
In all honesty, I’m not (or wasn’t) a “dog person”. It’s not that I didn’t like dogs - I do! I just never really knew what to do with them. They slobber. They lick. They make messes. But…then we got Truman, almost one year ago. This little pup had truly changed my feelings about furry beasts that lick and bark and mess. He is such a part of our family now - I really don’t know what we’d do without him. He and Drew are practically like brothers, Livy uses him as a pillow, Zoey…well, right now, Zoey could do with or without him.
We’ve had a lot of shoots lately where people have brought their pets, and, truth be told, a year ago, I wouldn’t have known what to do with that. But now? Now I love it! I love those little pugs from our last session, and in a bit I’ll post some of Clover, a sweet, sweet dog from another February engagement session.
Anyway…today Truman turns ONE! So, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TRUMAN! I was going to make him his own special cake, but Steve thought that’d be over the top. So I bought him a toy instead.
He looks so serious in these pictures, it cracks me up. He’s the goofiest dog you’ve ever met, but he photographs like he’s some sort of regal beagle.
